I came across a patch of these Penstemons north of Freeport this Monday, growning in sandy loam along the roadway.  New to me.  The flowers have a pleasant, sweet fragrance.

Just started researching trying to figure out more about them.

Has anyone else found these?  Any idea on ID?

Thanks,

Jerry Caraviotis

Hey Jerry,

Don't know which species these are but if you could get some seeds once they are ready that would be great. Will forward pictures to Dr. Brown for i.d.

Take care,

Jaime
Thanks, Jaime!
Hello Jerry,

I have two positive identifications for you. (1) The yellow flower is Gaillardia aestivalis (a.k.a. Lanceleaf Blanketflower) and Penstemon laxiflorus (Nodding Beard Tongue). Please get some seed from the beard tongue if you can.

Take care,

Jaime

P.S. - Can I place these photos in the wildflower gallery?
Thanks, Jaime!
Absolutely, place them in the gallery if you like.
Jerry
