Late yesterday afternoon we found several Antelope Horns (Asclepias asperula) coming up at the research station.
This is an incredibly neat looking perennial herb.

Spring grasses in Arizona

Posted on May 13, 2010 at 3:00pm 0 Comments

The following grasses are beginning to bloom right now:

Purple Threeawn (Aristida purpurea)
Nodding Brome (Bromus anomalus)
Squirreltail Bottlebrush (Elymus elymoides)
Burrograss (Scleropogon brevifolius)
Plains Bristlegrass (Setaria macrostachya - I believe this specific name has now changed)

Also lots of small wildflowers.
