Hi Rob,
There are 3 that come to mind that are open to the public; Armand Bayou Nature Center, Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, and Brazos Bend State Park. These are all interesting places and this is the time to start getting acquainted with them (July through fall). I encourage to visit year around and enjoy the seasons. Although they may sport the same flora and fauna, each one is different.
