On Wednesday Decemer 8th, 20 volunteers packed 2,000+ seed packets in Houston! These packets will be distributed to local schools, garden clubs, scouts, and private individuals as part of Katy Prairie Conservancy's Great Grow Out citizen-conservation program. This program generated over 2,500 plants for KPC in 2010. Houston Audubon, who provided seeds for party, will also receive hundreds of seed packets for their use and some seeds will also be distributed to volunteer seed growers in support of Project Blazing Star, a CPP supported prairie restoration in Houston historic Hermann Park.

Wednesday's Seed Packing Pizza Party was followed up by a successful packing event at KPC's Indiangrass Preserve on Saturday December 11th. Students from Yes College Prep (Southwest Campus), under the direction of teacher Merrill Turner, packed an additional 600 seed packets in just under one hour!

Much thanks to Tom Solomon (Texas Master Naturalist) and Flo Hannah of Audubon for providing much needed seed.
